Stopped the NAIF Loan
Sustained community pressure led the Queensland government to say no to a $1 billion loan of public money to Adani.
When the Federal LNP Government announced a billion-dollar taxpayer handout to help Adani build their coal rail line, our movement swung into action.
In Queensland, twelve months of community action came to a climax in the 2017 state election with door knocking, public meetings, and calling parties across Australia to speak with voters in key electorates. 10 days before the election, the #StopAdani movement made more calls than either major party did in the entire election campaign. And we succeeded: our sustained pressure pushed the new Queensland government to veto the $1 billion loan to Adani’s coal rail project in December.
