Why is this important?
Imagine walking down your street and every house has a #StopAdani yard sign. Everyone who sees those yard signs will be a step closer to knowing about our movement. People who already agree with us will know that they are not alone. And our candidates will see it and know that the #StopAdani movement is everywhere!
How to do it?
Yard Signs
Get yourself and friends together. Choose somewhere in your community where there is lots of foot traffic, like a main road. Decide on a day and a time that you and your friends will walk along your main road, asking shops or homes if they will put a #StopAdani yard sign up in their window or fence. If they say yes, offer to put it up for them!
Another option is to choose somewhere you know your candidates will see, such as near their office. Decide on a day and time that you and your friends will walk along the surrounding streets, asking residences if they will put up a #StopAdani yard sign on their fence with zip ties. If they say yes, offer to put it up for them!
To put up yard signs you will need:
- #StopAdani yard signs - order here
- Blue Tac and/or Zip Ties - source these yourself
- Conversation guide - download here and print yourself
Murals and Banners
Get yourself and friends together. Choose somewhere in your community where there is lots of foot traffic and where you can paint a big mural, like on a garage door or a fence. Focus on places where you can ask the owner to get permission. Avoid places that require lengthy approvals, like local government mural walls. An alternative is asking for permission to hang a big banner for several months, such as on the side of a church or balcony of a pub.
