Adani is an Indian mining company seeking to build the world’s biggest new coal mine in central Queensland’s Galilee Basin - the Carmichael mine.
The film is presented by Queensland born actor Michael Caton and shows how this mine threatens the Great Barrier Reef, Indigenous ancestral lands, vast quantities of ground water and the world’s climate.
Guest Speaker - Artist, writer and social ecologist Carole Douglas
A Manly local, Carole is a regular visitor to Kutch, Gujarat, where she works with traditional communities. Her work frequently takes her to the ancient port of Mundra, now known as Adani Port, and since her first visit in 1996, she has documented the changes wrought by its development. Her introductory talk will highlight the impacts on the local environment, traditional economies, social values and cultural systems of the area and draws parallels to its Australian counterpart.
