Elon Musk to solve our power challenges - for free!
GetUp is sick and tired of the Turnbull government playing politics with renewables. So when Elon Musk, billionaire founder of Tesla, offered to help fix South Australia's power crisis in 100 days - using readily available technology - or its free, support for the idea has been flooding in.
GetUp is sick and tired of the Turnbull government playing politics with renewables. So when Elon Musk, billionaire founder of Tesla, offered to help fix South Australia's power crisis in 100 days - using readily available technology - or its free, support for the idea has been flooding in.
Here is GetUp's great video explaining the solution. Be sure to sign their petition too!
Elon Musk, billionaire founder of electric car giant Tesla, has pledged to help fix South Australia's power crisis by installing a 100 megawatt battery system in 100 days, or it's free!
Since then, support has been flooding in.
GetUp members from across the country have called the Premier's office, urging him to back batteries for SA. Clean-tech investors have been lining up to get in on the action. Homegrown storage companies have raised the stakes, offering to get the job done faster and cheaper than Tesla.
The Coalition wants to keep blaming renewables for problems caused by greedy gas companies and their own failure to fix our broken energy market.
But with a few tweets from the world's most famous clean-tech entrepreneur, suddenly everyone's noticing that clean technology, not fossil fuels, is the best solution to South Australia's power problems. Let's seize this chance to point Australia's energy debate in the right direction!
As proved in the Homegrown Power Plan, Australia can go 100% renewable around the clock and save lots of money on fuel costs with a smart technology mix that includes solar, wind, batteries, solar thermal and storage, pumped hydro power and energy efficiency.
Let's show the coal and gas lobby the door and get on with the job of building clean, affordable 24-hour power!
