Adani tried to cover up illegal land clearing works that it undertook in 2018. Adani failed to report clearing of an area of land the size of 130 football fields on the Carmichael mine site. The clearing was exposed by community group Coast and Country and eventually Adani was found guilty of providing false and misleading information to the Queensland government and given a criminal conviction by a Queensland Court and fined $20,000.
