Macnamara Online Action Hour to #StoptheMoney
Join us to #StopAdani! Adani urgently needs to borrow more money to pay off debt that is due on their Abbot Point coal port on the edge of the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area. The Abbot Point port is essential to the disastrous Adani Carmichael coal project, because it’s how they plan to get the coal out of Australia to their energy plants in India and possibly other places. Adani is drowning in debt and is looking for banks to bail them out by refinancing a series of loans on the port. There is a high risk that the three companies that lent money to Adani most recently will be approached by Adani for further finance or support.
That’s why we are inviting you to take action as part of the Stop the Money Week of Action, to pressure key financial institutions to rule out future funding for Abbot Point.
Join us for an hour of online action to pressure these companies to rule out Adani on Thursday 13th August, from 7:30pm- 8:30pm as we use our remote activism skills by emailing these companies, tweeting at them and commenting on their social media posts as a united community, rather than in isolation. To join, register for the event and you will receive a Zoom link in a follow up email. On the day, simply click on the link!
You'll need a computer or smartphone with you, so that you can make phone calls or write messages/emails while on the Zoom call together. You can use the same device you are joining the call on, but you may find it easier with a second device. All the support and info that you need to take these actions will be provided when you join the zoom call.
Physical distancing doesn't have to be isolating, and it certainly doesn't have to be boring. Wherever you are, please join us for a productive hour of climate action, to #StopAdani together.
