People power stopped public money going to centibillionaire Adani and fueled an exodus of investors and insurers that has fundamentally restricted finance for all thermal coal.
Taking on Adani helped stop the eight other mega coal mines planned for Queensland’s Galilee Basin. Thanks to people power, none of those mines will go ahead and billions of tonnes of coal in the Galilee Basin will stay where it should - in the ground.
But the fight is not over.
Adani is digging a smaller version of its Carmichael mine on Wangan and Jagalingou land. Threatening to permanently destroy the sacred Doongmabulla Springs in the process.
